This Saturday (5/02) is State Archives day. I always try to get there early because you never know how involved you'll get. I will be there again trying to track down a few things. I want to see if I can dig anything up on John Lattman. I have found his WPA Graves Registration records before. I didn't make a copy of them then but I intend to this time. I also have a date for an obituary on Henry Charles Weihe (aka Charles White) and I want a copy of that as well.
I hope to do another website update this weekend also. It seems I update the site every couple of weeks or so. I have another great article on Charles Windolph to post. It appeared in an issue of the Little Big Horn Associates newsletter and deals with his Purple Heart. Great stuff.
Take care.

Yesterday I added a great article to the website about Abram Brant by Peter Russell of the Custer Association of Great Britain. It had appeared in a Little Big Horn Associates newsletter. Many thanks to Peter Russell and Rod Thomas, LBHA newsletter editor, for giving me permission to post it.
Brant was a recipient of the Medal of Honor. He was killed the night before he was to receive the medal. It is believed that he was buried with the medal. The actual location of Brant's grave is unknown. He is believed to be buried in an unmarked grave located in the Fort Meade Post Cemetery. A marker was placed for him in that cemetery on October 17, 2008. I have not had the opportunity to see the marker yet. When I do, I will post a photo on the website. BTW, Brant is a distant relative of horror novelist John Saul.
I have more articles to add including a couple about Charles Windolph.
Montana Mayhem II is coming up fast. The guys are flying into Billings from all points around the country on June 17th and 18th. On the 19th they are driving to Bismarck. I will be meeting up with them on the evening of the 19th in Bismarck. We will explore Forts Lincoln and Rice before we all head back to Billings. There are conferences for the LBHA and the CBHMA during that battle anniversary week. We will be walking the site of the timber and Reno's valley fight.
Then it's time for the Wyoming portion of the tour. The Mint Bar in Sheridan is a definite stop. Buffalo ribeye steaks at the Occidental Hotel in Buffalo, Wyoming.
I can hardly wait.
Take care.

Greetings from Minot, North Dakota! My son and I arrived here yesterday afternoon. My brother and his family from Minneapolis as well as my sister and her daughter from Minot are here as well. It has been a long time since we have all been in the same place at the same time. Today, we are getting a family photo taken as well as celebrating our parent's 50th wedding anniversary.
After an Easter brunch tomorrow, we will be heading back south to Pierre.
Take care.

Yesterday there was another semi-blizzard in the area. I decided to go over to the State Archives to see what I could dig up. I found a death notice for Sgt. Alexander Brown that I just added to the website. I also found a couple stories and a photo relating to the Purple Heart award to Charles Windolph. I will also get these added to the site.
Somehow I have gotten on a Foghat kick. Cranking up 'Slow Ride' and all the rest.
Behave yourselves.
